Why Use mail.yourdomain.com for Email Settings in Outlook

Title: Why Use mail.yourdomain.com for Email Settings in Outlook

In the latest versions of Microsoft Outlook, the auto setup will often use:

mail.yourdomain.com

for incoming and outgoing email server settings — instead of:

imap.yourdomain.com
pop.yourdomain.com
smtp.yourdomain.com

Why?

Both cPanel and DirectAdmin email servers automatically install SSL certificates only for mail.yourdomain.com by default.

If you use smtp.yourdomain.com or imap.yourdomain.com, you may get SSL certificate warnings unless you manually install separate SSL certificates for each one.

Recommended Setting:

Use this for all your email configuration:

Incoming Server (IMAP/POP3): mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing Server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com

This is secure, supported, and avoids SSL errors.
